Report of the New York State Sea Level Rise Task Force
The New York State Sea Level Rise Task Force has prepared a report of its findings and recommendations for adapting to sea level rise and submitted the report to the State Legislature on December 31, 2010. The task force report is referenced in, but is not part of, the Climate Action Plan Interim Report. Stakeholders with interest in adaptation to the effects of sea level rise may also wish to review and comment on the coastal zones recommendations included in Chapter 11 of the Interim Report.
Information on the State Sea Level Rise Task Force is available at http://www.dec.ny.gov/energy/45202.html.
The State Sea Level Rise Task Force Report and comments received on the public-review draft are available at http://www.dec.ny.gov/energy/67778.html.
The ClimAID project was undertaken by a team of university and research scientists to provide decision-makers with information on New York State's vulnerability to climate change and to facilitate the development of adaptation strategies informed by both local experience and scientific knowledge. Funded by NYSERDA, this state-level assessment of climate change impacts is specifically geared to assist in the development of adaptation strategies. It acknowledges the need to plan for and adapt to climate change impacts in a range of sectors: Water Resources, Coastal Zones, Ecosystems, Agriculture, Energy, Transportation, Telecommunications, and Public Health. The draft summary report appears as Appendix H to the Climate Action Plan Interim Report and is also available at http://www.nyserda.org/programs/environment/emep/climate_change_newyork_impacts.asp. The full technical report is forthcoming.
